Dentures & Partials

Dentists are always in favor of saving teeth whenever possible. However, sometimes teeth are lost despite our best efforts.

Dentures are an alternative to going without teeth, not an alternative for teeth. The fit and comfort of a denture is dependant on a few factors with the largest factor being the amount of bone left for the denture to rest on. If you do not have much bone, an implant retained denture is your best option. Implants can be very helpful even if you do have sufficient bone because the implant will prevent you from losing bone as you age and maintaining the foundation for dentures.

A partial denture is sometimes necessary when more than one tooth is missing and implants or bridges aren’t feasible. A partial denture usually rests on the remaining bone and uses the remaining teeth as stabilizers as well.
